ATLAS MOUNTAIN SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
Mission
Our aim is to provide educational opportunities for girls in the Atlas Mountain villages by constructing a high school that offers specialized classes that can lead to gainful employment.
Goals
Our aim is to provide an educational opportunity to the girls in the Atlas Mountain villages, an opportunity that was not accessible to me. I was only able to complete 6th grade in my village of Aremd due to cultural norms that did not allow me to attend high school in a distant town. Many children in the Atlas Mountains do not see the value in education as the curriculum does not align with the job opportunities available in the region. Parents also do not encourage school attendance as they see little purpose in it.
To address this issue, we plan to build Atlas Mountain Central High in Aremd, the largest village in the Atlas Mountains. This school will serve the surrounding eleven villages and cater to tens of potential high school students (grades 7-12). The school will focus on providing practical skills that will prepare students for employment within the community.

THE VILLAGE OF AREMD [AROUMD]
AROUMD, MOROCCO
WIKIPEDIA DESCRIPTION: “Aroumd (pronounced "arr-umm-n-d", also spelt Armed, Arempt) is a small Berber village in the Ait Mizane Valley of the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Its population is around 1,900. Its altitude is 1900 m above sea level.[1] Aroumd is 40 minutes' walk up the valley from Imlil, and is quieter and seen as more traditional. Aroumd is the highest village in the Ait Mizane Valley and so forms a good base for summitting Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. The route into Toubkal passes by Aroumd which is in Toubkal National Park.[2]
Village life is organised primarily by the Association pour le Developpement d'Armed, which is a charity formed by the elders of the village. Recent projects have included resurfacing and widening the mountain roads, and getting electricity and running water to all the houses in the village.” Wikipedia
